JOE ZUCCARO
Photography is a family affair for me. I have been involved with photography since I was born! My maternal grandfather was a very prominent photographer in Portugal, and then in New York City. My dad picked up the camera, taking family photos throughout my childhood days. After I entered the Air Force, my dad gave me a camera. I began to document the places that I traveled to. I got stationed in California and joined the fire department as a volunteer. I took a lot of photos of firefighting, and eventually started my photography business, adding weddings, portraits, events and concerts to my portfolio. I eventually became a combat photographer, documenting events for the Air Force. I have photographed locations around the world including Antarctica, Africa, and Ground Zero where I documented two US presidents. My photography has been published in magazines and newspapers in the U.S. and around the world, as well as billboards and corporate centers. I also taught my wife Lizz the art of photography and secrets of success. She has equaled (and even exceeded) my work. She has been a major inspiration and has helped me create a business that is recognized for superior images and customer service. She now has her own business, The Boho Cactus Photography (www.thebohocactusphotography.com).
Community service is an important part of my life. I have been involved with the Fire Explorer Post, pet shelters, Police and Fire Activities League, Hispanic Chamber, African American Chamber, National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) and International Combat Camera Association (ICCA). I was a long time member of the Victorvalley Chamber of Commerce, Inland Empire United Way, past president of Rotary Club of Victorvalley Sunrise and Rotary Club of the High Desert, and president of the San Bernardino County Fair Board of Directors.
